Last night, Dr Viki D Thompson-Wylder and her husband, Tom, of Tallahassee made a studio visit to select from a plethora of sumi-e cat paintings. Viki said
Viki had commissioned Mark to do a cat painting in December 2005. After Mark made numerous sketches, Viki chose about 20 different images. Then Mark used them as a springboard to create final paintings. He said
It was a pretty quick process compared to clay. Even though it took 6 months, it remained a spontaneous process. I really liked that about it.
During the visit, Viki also commissioned a porcelain soap dish. Although Viki and Tom originally only commissioned one cat painting, they were so pleased with the many choices that they finally chose two paintings. Many thanks to Viki and Tom for your support!
